This tall deck was built without the lateral bracing that is required by the NC Building Code, and was unstable. The Engineer designed a bracing system to stabilize the deck.
The block wall in this basement was bowing in and there was no way to access the wall from the outside. The Engineer designed this 2x8 reinforced wall that was tied in to the house framing and basement concrete slab. The wall is intended to prevent and further movement of the block wall.
This wall was on the verge of collapse. We built a temporary support beam and post structure to support the house. The back wall of the house fell under its own weight the next day. We had a Licensed Structural Engineer design a new wall and foundation.
